Burnout
Generally speaking, my Psychiatrists from the US find working here to be far less stressful than in the States. Here are some comments from expat US Psychiatrists now working in New Zealand:
“You work with a team that often includes a Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist and Mental Health Nurse”;
“There is always someone who knows the patient better than you”;
“The biggest factor is that you never see more than about five or six patients a day”;
“Generally speaking, working here in an outpatient role has far lower stress”; and
“People are still nice here.”
Registration
Either I or the hospital will handle your entire registration application. All you have to do is to provide the information as requested and pay the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) invoices.
