Position Title: Provisional Psychologist
Employment Type: Permanent/Direct Hire
Client Contact Hours: Maximum of 20 clients per week
Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Reports To: Practice Director

Supervision Arrangements: Offsite primary supervisor as nominated by the employee (at the employee’s expense), secondary supervision and day-to-day professional and ethical oversight, supervision and guidance provided by The Psychology Hub as contracted by the practice and monthly in-house peer group supervision led by a Clinical Psychologist.

Job Summary
As a Provisional Psychologist at you are tasked with delivering evidence-based psychological services to clients. Clients may include individuals referred by general practitioners, private referrals, NDIS self-managed clients, employees under an Employee Assistance Program, and various community sources. Working within the scope of your competence and supervised practice, as a Provisional Psychologist you will perform your duties autonomously, while also participating in required supervision and in-house training designed to enhance your clinical skills and understanding of private practice operations.

Key Responsibilities
Therapeutic Interventions: Provide therapeutic sessions using evidence-based interventions to clients.
Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans for clients based on appropriate psychological formulation, existing knowledge, and research.
Documentation: Maintain high-standard electronic client notes and reports for all sessions using practice management software, adhering to the Australian Psychological Society (APS) Code of Ethics or equivalent and supervisory standards.

Collaboration: Engage in correspondence with other healthcare professionals and external agencies to support ongoing therapy for clients.

Peer Supervision: Actively participate in peer supervision and communicate effectively with colleagues using intra-practice communication systems.

Professional Development: Attend professional development activities in line with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration requirements.

Legal Compliance: Ensure all practice activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements for provisional psychologists working under supervision.

Supervision Preparation: Prepare for and attend external supervision sessions as per AHPRA guidelines.

Group Work: Assist in the preparation and delivery of group therapy sessions, offering continued professional development in areas of practice interest.

Assessments: Conduct supervised psychological assessments in line with practice standards.

Compliance: Comply with all relevant policies and procedures set down by the practice, and act in accordance with the vision, mission and values of this practice at all times.

Skills and Qualifications
Education: Enrolled in or recently completed a relevant postgraduate program in Psychology, with provisional registration through AHPRA.
Clinical Skills: Knowledge of evidence-based psychological therapies and ability to apply these in practice under supervision.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and external agencies.
Organization: Strong organisational skills to manage time, documentation, and client caseload effectively.

Professionalism: Commitment to ethical practice, continuous learning, and adherence to professional standards.
